Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Exposures in the highway cut expose both Ordovician and Cretaceous sediments. The Ordovician sediments consist of micaceous silty shales without fossils (Libeň Beds, Upper Ordovician). They are overlain by the sediments of the Peruc-Korycany Beds (Upper Cretaceous). They consist of ill-sorted sandstones with siltstone interlayers and coaly admixture. On the section top sorted quartzose sandstones occur with clay fragments. This locality is situated in the Barrandian Basin.
